Would you ever have thought of pairing couscous with a sweet flavor like chocolate to create an original and delicious dessert? Here is the Pear and Chocolate Couscous Dessert. The recipe is by our Fernanda Nicotra, food blogger at Giallo Zafferano!
Ingredients:
- 2 pears (medium)
- 60 g raw couscous
- 110 g milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 20 g butter
- 50 g dark chocolate
- to taste pistachio crumbs
- to taste red currants
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Method:
Peel the pears, cut them into very small pieces, add the lemon juice and 1.5 tablespoons of sugar.
Mix and place on low heat for 10 minutes or until the pears begin to take on some color. While the pears are cooking, gather the couscous, remaining sugar, cocoa, and butter in a bowl.
Pour 90g of boiling milk over it, add a tiny pinch of salt, mix very well and let it rehydrate for 10 minutes.
Fluff the couscous, add half of the pears and mix. Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie, add the remaining hot milk and stir to combine everything into a smooth, glossy sauce.
Distribute the couscous into two single-serving cups, level it, and cover with the chocolate sauce. Finish with the remaining pears, pistachio crumbs, and currants. Serve warm and creamy or cold like a pudding.
