Chocolate salami and couscous

Chocolate salami is a simple and delicious no-bake dessert, a classic homemade treat loved by both adults and children, with the crunchy touch of dry biscuits. Here is our version with couscous. The recipe for chocolate salami with couscous is by our Anna Attanasio, food blogger at Giallo Zafferano.

Ingredients:

  • 60 g of couscous
  • 60 g of hot milk
  • 550 g of dry biscuits
  • 100 g of milk or dark chocolate
  • 100 g of granulated sugar
  • 50 g of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 200 ml of milk (approximately)
  • 60 g of butter
  • 2 vials of rum flavoring (optional)

Preparation:

Pour the couscous into a bowl, add the hot milk, stir, cover, and let it rehydrate for 10 minutes. After the resting time, fluff it with a fork.

Finely chop 400 g of the 550 g of biscuits. Add the cocoa and sugar to the chopped biscuits, and mix until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.

Then add the melted butter and melted chocolate and continue to mix. Add the milk little by little; you may not need all of it or you may need to add more, depending on how dry the biscuits you used are, and mix again.

Add the rum flavoring according to taste and the fluffed couscous, and knead with your hands until you obtain a homogeneous dough that does not crumble; if it’s too dry, add more milk.

Roughly break the remaining biscuits (150 g) and add them to the dough, kneading gently. Once the biscuits are incorporated, compact the dough and shape it into a cylinder, wrap it in parchment paper or plastic wrap, and place it in the freezer for at least 1 hour.
